Description

Baden Karl Friedrich Military Order of Merit. A white enamelled Bath Cross without finials, with a green laurel wreath between the arms and surmounted by a hinged double sided crown. Obverse: A red enamel medallion with the entwined initials 'CF' in gold within a blue border and the inscription 'FUR BADENS EHRE' (For the honour of Baden). Reverse: As for the obverse but with the arms of Baden, a Griffin holding a shield and sword facing right, within the central medallion. The cross is fitted with a loose ring suspender at the top of the crown and a piece of 25 mm yellow ribbon which has a wide red centre stripe and white edges.

History / Summary

The Karl Friedrich Military Order of Merit was instituted in 1807 and awarded for military merit and loyalty. This medal forms part of a collection assembled by the Memorial in the 1920s for display.
