Description
Blue enamelled Female Relative's Badge. A blue enamelled oval around the voided letters 'AIF'. The oval contains the words 'ISSUED BY DEPT OF DEFENCE TO WOMEN OF AUSTRALIA'. An enamelled scroll beneath this contains the words 'FOR DUTY DONE'. The badge is surmounted with a King's Crown and has a pin fastening on the back. The reverse is stamped with the maker's details and the number '169256'
History / Summary
Associated with Margaret Keith Forsyth who married 3047 Sergeant William Forsyth of Darlington, Sydney, the day before he enlisted. Sgt Forsyth served with 5 Heavy Trench Mortar Battery. He first served with the 2 Battalion and later joined 56 Battery, 14 Field Artillery Brigade, 5 Division. He died of wounds on 9 August 1918.
