Description
A party of RAAF men from Vung Tau were invited to visit a Buddhist temple after some of them had shown an interest in the huge white figure of Buddha which dominates a hill near the town. Because of the local rule that all RAAF men must be armed, or be accompanied by other armed men, an assortment of uniforms and civilian clothes, arms and cameras were seen at the temple. Preceded by a small local boy, two airmen walk down the steps leading to the huge figure of Buddha on the hill top. They are 219846 Leading Aircraftman (LAC) John William McDougall, engine fitter of Revesby, NSW and 19982 LAC Brian Thomas Lawrence, engine fitter of Maryborough, Qld.
