Description
Artillery horses moving along the tree lined road between Poperhinghe and Ypres, during the Third Battle of Ypres. This stretch of road with tall trees on either side was one of the finest avenues in Flanders. Of the national routes which fell into enemy hands none survived the wanton destruction of the Germans. The enemy reached this only with his shells.
