Studio portrait of 32 Lance Corporal (LCpl) Harry Linklater, 18th Battalion, of Sydney NSW. LCpl Linklater enlisted on 27 February 1915 at Sydney and was killed in action at Gallipoli on 22 August 1915. Born at Graemsay in the Orkney Islands, Scotland, he came to Australia aged 23 having previously served with the Territorial Army. He was employed as a draper at Anthony Hordern prior to his enlistment. His portrait is one of a number displayed on a photo montage Honour Board made for the department store Anthony Hordern and Sons Ltd, Sydney by the returned soldier and sailor employees of the company. It commemorated 46 of the company's 48 employees who died as a result of their service in the First World War.
