Two 250 lb bombs attached to the underside of a Kittyhawk aircraft from 450 Squadron RAAF. Note the piece of steel projecting about 30 cm from the nose of each bomb; this was designed to detonate the bombs above the ground, so that they would throw the shrapnel along the ground and strike any low objects nearby. A member of 450 Squadron came up with the idea.
