Three Australian signalmen of E Section, 2/7 Australian Field Regiment inspecting a captured long range German gun after the battle of El Alamein in the Western Desert, Egypt. Identified is VX1617 Signalman Harold Leopold (Hal) Renouf, wireless operator of Port Melbourne, Vic (left); and standing on top of the gun is WX8170 Corporal (Cpl) Norman John Pope, of Carnarvon, WA. Cpl Pope was driver of S5 the line truck used by this Section (see P03369.002).
