Description

Sergeant (Sgt) John Rixon, a member of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) contingent to the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) farewells Colonel (Col) Tach Thy, Commander of the Khmer People's National Liberation Armed Forces (KPNLAF) police. Col Tach is wearing a disc over his left breast pocket bearing the official arms of the State of Cambodia's (SOC's) police force, with the legend 'Police' in Khmer and English. Members of the KPNLAF police were responsible for the security of the unarmed AFP contingent whenever they went on patrol, and the two groups developed a friendly relationship. Two UNTAC vehicles sit parked behind the pair, one of which bears the registration 'UNTAC 759'.
