A State of Cambodia (SOC) policeman (foreground) at a United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) road block in the Thmar Puok district, which he shares with two other factional military representatives. On the far left is a National Army of Democratic Kampuchea (NADK - the military arm of the Khmer Rouge) soldier, and next to him a soldier from the National Front for an Independent, Neutral, Peaceful and Cooperative Cambodia (FUNCINPEC) party. The SOC policeman is recognisable by the round police badge prominently displayed on his left breast pocket. The small gold kangaroo stick pin on his collar was given out by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to Cambodian police of any faction who completed a training course which included a human rights component. A marine from the 1st Marine Battalion of the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps (RNLMC), which often conducted joint patrols with Cambodian police, is just visible in the far background, controlling the roadblock from the other end.
