Recognise the PRG
A map of South Vietnam indicating regions controlled by the Provisional Revolutionary Government of Vietnam, Thieu and contested areas. The accompanying text includes a statement from the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a list of political, economic and humanitarian achievements of the PRG. The poster was issued by the Wellington Committee on Vietnam, New Zealand. The Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Vietnam (1969-1975) was established at a meeting of the Congress of People's Representatives of the Republic of Vietnam in June 1969. It was established as the rival communist alternative to the Republic of (South) Vietnam. Its first president was Huynh Tan-Phat, and the initial site of the government was in or near Tay-Ning Province. The PRG's major responsibilities included foreign policy and its best known spokesperson was Madam Nguyen Thi Binh. With the fall of Saigon in April 1975, Madam Nguyen Thi Binh became minister of education for the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The Republic of South Vietnam was proclaimed by the PRG upon the military collapse of the Republic of Vietnam.
