Description

Autographed postcard featuring the S.S.Suevic. Photographed by Sam Hood and produced as a souvenir for sale aboard the troopship, the front is covered with signatures of soldiers, many of the 19th Battalion, abord the Suevic which left Sydney on 20 December 1915. The verso is addressed to Mrs. F. A. Stuart, Dalley Street, Mullumbimby. NSW and is written by 3229 Alexander Penrice Stuart to his mother. "Dear Mother/ Just a few lines to say I/ am well& that/ wwe are having a/ splendid voyage./ With best of love to/ all. Loving son/3229 A P Stuart. Card is stamped "AiF Passed by Censor 29". Stuart was killed in action on 5 May 1917.
