Description
British Parliament Recruiting Committee poster, number 133, depicting a cavalryman charging, his sword pointing forward, while buildings burn in the background. Issued with the simple injunction 'Forward!' at the head. Despite the fact that most soldiers in the First World War were not mounted, British as well as Russian and German poster work employed the device of a charging horse more for its symbolic power than as a true reflection of active service.
