Description
Correspondence (letters and postcards) written mainly in France during the First World War by 2227 Private Jim Robertson ('D' Company, 60 Battalion and, later, 'B' Company, 59 Battalion) to his cousin and aunt. Includes observations on the weather, comparisons between the cleanliness of the French and Australian people and oblique comments on his active service experience. The earliest communication is dated 15 May 1917 and the latest, May 1919 (a postcard photograph showing members of his unit at Westham Camp, Weymouth, England). Collection also includes two portrait photographs of Pte Jim Robertson.
