Engineer, if you are a patriot
Description
United States First World War poster issued by the Food Administration and the National Association of Ice Industries. An image depicting Uncle Sam, holding a spanner, urging an engineer to put down his paper and get up out of his chair to check his equipment for ammonia leaks fills the top half. The title and text fill the remainder with the emblem of the United States Food Administration positioned top centre. The symbol of Uncle Sam links notions of patriotic duty with routine workplace tasks. At the bottom in the foreground is a rectangle marked out for employers to add bonus payment offers.
