Portrait of VX484119 Driver (Dvr) Joseph H (Joe) Jameson, 2/2 Motor Ambulance Convoy (MAC) with his ambulance No 6261 at Kajang. The Chevrolet 30 cwt Indian Army Pattern Ambulance was donated by Rawleighs Ltd of Melbourne and was driven around Singapore and Malaya from February 1941 when the 8th Division landed until capitulation in February 1942. Dvr Jameson left the vehicle at the waterfront after disabling the engine and removed a plaque attached to it which he kept with him during his time as a Prisoner of War (POW) in Burma and Changi. The ambulance is an Ambulance Indian Army Type (Aust) No. 1, MVFS:1159 (Military Vehicle Field Specification). Note the Australian (GMH) type cabin ventilation (forward of the door) which was unique to Australian built Chevrolet bodies. The disruptive camouflage pattern is comprised of Khaki Green No. 3 (dark) and Light Stone or Portland Stone for the lighter colour.
