Description
Papers of Captain William Thomas McDonald, 4 Battalion. They include newspaper clippings relating to the Boer War, mobilisation orders (1914), Christmas cards (1913), an instruction book on musketry and two diaries. One diary covers the period 19 October 1914 to 25 April 1915 and relates to McDonald's sea voyage to Alexandria, preparation for, and landing at Gallipoli. The second diary covers the period 6 August 1915 to 16 June 1916 and primarily relates to action McDonald was involved in at Gallipoli, including Lone Pine.
