Description
French First World War poster issued as one of a series commissioned from Victor Prove by the Department of Public Instruction in 1917. It features a split image in the top half on the left side a group of soldiers at the front and on the right a group of civilians in town. The French national flag wrapped around a flag pole separates and links the two groups. Directly beneath is the title and message printed in brown ink. The viewer is urged via the words of General Petain and to learn the lessons of the front, to be patient and strong, in the face of the hardship and deprivation of war time life.
