Description
Southhampton, England. Lieutenant H. E. Wadsley DSC GM and Bar, RNVR (left) and an unknown RN rating, attaching ropes to a German Type C magnetic mine. Wadsley, a bomb disposal expert attached to HMS Vernon, appears to have removed the fuse from the right hand recessed circle on the top and the two appear to be preparing the mine for removal to a dryer area. The equipment in the left foreground and is probably part of the standard trepanning equipment used to drill through the metal case in order to access its electronics, booby traps and detonators.
