Description
Haling Island, England. Informal portrait of Lieutenant Commander John Stuart Mould GC GM, RANVR (foreground) assisted by two unidentified members of the Enemy Mines Section of HMS Vernon, as he prepares to dive on a crashed United States Army Airforce (USAAF) bomber aircraft. Mould has put on the water proof trousers of his diving gear and the RN rating (right) is holding the upper part of the suit by its helmet ring. Apart from his mine delousing duties Mould also contributed greatly to the development of early forms of underwater diving technology.
