The couple were presumably friends of Lieutenant Commander Leonard (Leon) Verdi Goldsworthy GC DSC GM, RANVR an Australian member of the Rendering Mines Safe (RMS) Section at HMS Vernon. L Cdr Goldsworthy and other officers posted to HMS Vernon were regular guests of Mr and Mrs Fenwick.
