Studio portrait of 4002 Corporal (Cpl) Donald John Gillanders, 31st Battalion, from Dalby, Qld (born in Guyra, NSW). Cpl Gillanders enlisted on 11 February 1916 and died of meningitis on 29 November 1916 while en route to serve overseas. He is buried in Cape Town (Maitland) Cemetery, South Africa.
