Studio portrait of Walter Seccombe Ewin, of Nowra, NSW. He enlisted in Toowoomba, Qld, as a Private (Pte) with the 9th Battalion, AIF with the regimental number 354 on 31 August 1914 and embarked from Brisbane aboard HMAT Omrah on 26 September 1914. He was killed in action on 25 April 1915, on the Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey, aged 25.
