Victorian Local Forces Long and Efficient Service Medal : Private T B Davison, 1880
Description
Silver medal with raised rim. Missing suspender. Obverse shows the badge of the Colony of Victoria with the motto 'AUT PACE. AUT BELLO. VICTORIA' and 'LOCAL FORCES VICTORIA'. Reverse reads 'FOR LONG AND EFFICIENT SERVICE'. Impressed around rim with recipient's name and date of award.
History / Summary
Awarded to Private Thomas B Davison of the Maldon Rifle Corps. The unit was formed in 1870 as part of the Maldon and Kyneton Detachments of the Second Castlemaine Corps. Davison was in the first list of recipients of this medal. The medals were presented in a ceremony at the Melbourne Town Hall on 26 January 1881.
