'Salt: the Australian Army Education Journal' was a pocket-sized magazine that informed and entertained Australian servicemen and women during the Second World War. 'Salt' sought contributions from Australian and allied serviceman in the form of letters, stories, articles, verse and drawings. This manuscript is a collection of covers, advertisements and articles from the journal. The collection also contains draft copies of original prose and poetry that was published in the magazine. Many of the original illustrations for the articles in this collection are held in the Art Collection. The twenty plus edited article excerpts are attributed to service numbers or pseudonyms as the servicemen wished to remain anonymous. This collection also includes a map of the Philippines.
