Description
Kaino Village. Private Kent Strout, Royal Australian Infantry (RAINF), administering first aid to a child at a temporary first aid post. He and Warrant Officer Arnold Vira a soldier from Vanuatu (right) were members of a multinational patrol under the command of the Peace Monitoring Group (PMG). The child's head had been split open when his sister hit him with a bush knife (machete), children are armed at the age of three years.
