Travelling communion set: NX147635 Chaplain C.W. Dillon, AIF
Travelling communion set and case. The black leatherette covered wooden case , has a hinged lid fitted with leather suitcase style handle and a hinged spring fastened lock. The interior of the case is covered in maroon coloured velvet, the inner lid section having a compartment to hold wafers, whilst the lower section is divided in to three to hold the chalice, platter and two glass wine crucibles. All metal items are either silver or, silver plated. All items are etched with the sign of the Christian Cross, and the decorative silver tops to the crucible corks are shaped in the form of the cross. None of the contents have any maker's markings. The communion set was presented as a gift to Chaplain Dillon, by the parishioners of St Andrew's Church of England, Strathfield, N.S.W.
