Description
Studio portrait of 839 (Pte) Private Charles Henry Stanton, 2nd Pioneer Battalion, of Malvern, Vic. Pte Stanton enlisted on 1 March 1915 and was killed in action in France on 13 June 1918. Pte Stanton had three cousins who were also killed during the First World War, they were: Captain Frederick Bertram Stanton, 14th Battalion, killed in action on 11 April 1917; 231 Pte Walter Price, 22nd Battalion, killed in action 21 November 1915, and 3131 Pte James Price, 39th Battalion, killed in action 10 September 1918.
