Description
Studio portrait of 1024 Private (Pte) John Moffat, 31st Battalion, of East Melbourne, Vic, originally of Glasgow, Scotland. Pte Moffat enlisted on 19 January 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard either HMAT Bakara on 5 November 1915 or HMAT Wandilla on 9 November 1915. He later served as a corporal and was killed in action on 18 January 1917, near Bapaume, France. His two brothers, Robert and William, also enlisted, with William also killed in action.
