Discharged Sailors and Soldiers get the job that suits you...
British First World War poster issued by the Ministry of Labour. It encourages disabled sailors and soldiers to make sure they get the job that suits them by contacting their nearest Employment Exchange. It features an image of two sailors standing together and smiling in the upper left and an image of two soldiers reading from a sheet of paper in the upper right. The title and main text are separate and positioned in the lower half, in pale orange ink, and set against a black background. Further text is separate and placed across the top edge, in black. Both images and text are set against a white background. The Ministry of Labour was a British government department established by the New Ministries and Secretaries Act 1916. It later morphed into the Department of Employment. After the New Ministries and Secretaries Act 1916 the Ministry of Labour took over Board of Trade responsibilities for conciliation, labour exchanges, labour and industrial relations and employment related statistics. Following the First World War it supervised the demobilisation and resettlement of ex-servicemen.
