Description
Seven 'Field Message and Notebook' notebooks of 213865 Roy 'Doc' Savage of 7 Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (7 RAR). Savage served in Vietnam between 1967 and 1971, predominantly in Phuoc Tuy Province. One notebook contains brief diary entries for the period 18 March 1970 to 10 September 1970. Savage mentions an ambush on the Song Hai River, various contacts with the enemy in the Nui Dat area and the resulting casualties, and training Army of the Republic of Vietnam ARVN) troops. The other notebooks are undated and contain lists of names, numbers, equipment, song words and personal reminders and instructions.
