Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps: We're looking to you...
British First World War recruitment poster issued by The Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps (Q.M.A.A.C). It features a yellow circle within a bright red background. Within the circle are a group of six girls in QMAAC uniforms linking arms. Just in front of the circle in the lower right of the poster is a larger QMAAC girl pointing her right finger at the viewer and smiling. Text printed in black next to this girl states ' We're looking to you to join our circle!' Other title text in white lettering is positioned above and beneath the image. Details of how to enlist are printed in black in the lower left corner. The Women's Army Auxiliary Corp was a voluntary service formed in Britain circa 1916 as a response to great loses of men on the western front. The idea behind this service was to encourage women to volunteer to do administrative work for the Army so that more men could be freed up to fight. The service was renamed the Queen Mary's Auxiliary Army Corp in 1918 and was disbanded in 1921.
