Studio portrait of NX29690 Gunner Leonard Leslie Bruce, in uniform, with his bride Heather Lorraine Bruce on their wedding day. From Croydon, NSW, and born in Leytonstone, Essex, England, Bruce enlisted on 10 June 1940 and trained with 2 Battery, Australian Field Artillery, in Sydney before serving in Malaya with 2/15 Field Regiment. He was killed in action during the defence of Singapore on 23 January 1942 and is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial, Kranji War Cemetery, outside Singapore.
