Hun or home? : buy more liberty bonds
Description
American First World War poster issued to promote the sale of Liberty Bonds. Featuring a macabre, graphic image by Henry Raleigh of a mother holding her baby in her arms. As she turns to look behind her a large ogre like figure is stalking her. His German helmet is visible as are his blood stained hands. Printed in black and red on a cream background the title text is integrated and layered over the image in the upper right corner. It aims to instill fear in the viewer and asks the question ' Hun or Home?' implying that subscription to the Liberty Loan will help keep the 'Huns' away.
