Description

Mauser Model 88 bolt action commission rifle. Polished bolt with a straight arm and a blackened receiver stamped with an S over a moon symbol and a crown over DANZIG 1891. The left side is stamped GEW 88. It has a one piece full length stock with two barrel bands. The front band has a bayonet lug attached to the right side. The bolt has Turkish Arabic numerals and the centre band is marked 33RR434. The sights are a front barleycorn post and the rear is an adjustable leaf. It has an inline five shot fixed magazine and a cleaning rod.

History / Summary

This rifle appears to have been issued originally to the Prussian 33rd Regiment and then one of a batch sent to Turkey.
