Description
Studio portrait probably of 2252 Corporal (Cpl) Eric Ray Smith, 6th Battalion, of Bentleigh, Vic. Cpl Smith enlisted on 12 March 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Wandilla on 17 June 1915. On 22 August 1915 he died of sickness and was buried at sea. As he has no known grave he is commemorated at the Lone Pine Memorial on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
