Five members of 7th (Queensland) Battery, 3rd Field Artillery Brigade, resting after three intense days of fighting after the landing on the Gallipoli Peninsula. The soldier reading The Sphere newspaper is 1665 Gunner Andrew Roderick McDowall; the other soldiers are unidentified. Later promoted to Sergeant, he returned to Australia on 21 December 1917 due to recurrent malaria.
