Description

Steel-framed canvas chair which reclines to the horizontal. Rests on four spiked feet on a swivelling base. Adjustable armrests are provided with wooden cradles for use in holding binoculars and the users head is supported by a small adjustable padded leather headrest. Triangular section upper leg supports are attached to the lower portion of the frame, which is welded up from a combination of tubular and solid steel sections and painted medium green.

Type of chair used by Australian Army, RAAF aircraft spotters and observers such as the Volunteer Air Observer Corps (VAOC) during the Second World War. No known history.
