Description
The original grave marker, covered in flowers, of 656 Private (Pte) John James McDonald, 6th Mobile Veterinary Section, Australian Army Veterinary Corps, of Moonee Ponds, Vic, originally of Glac Bay, Cape Breton, Canada. Pte McDonald enlisted on 16 December 1914 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Barunga on 7 April 1916. He was admitted to hospital with an illness and subsequently died from a fractured skull from falling out the window of the hospital onto the floor below on 30 April 1918 aged 34 years.
