The original grave marker, covered in flowers, of 2810A Trooper (Tpr) Frederick Burgess, 1st Australian Light Horse Machine Gun Squadron, of Nerang, Qld, originally of Glenbervie, Kincardineshire, Scotland. Tpr Burgess enlisted on 18 January 1916 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Mongolia on 8 July 1916. He died of wounds in Egypt on 20 April 1918 aged 29 years.
