Description

The original grave marker, covered in flowers, of 1172 Shoeing Smith (Sh Smith) John James Irwin Harrison, 10th Australian Light Horse, of North Perth, WA, originally of Bendigo, Vic. Sh Smith Harrison, a farrier before enlistment, enlisted as a private on 22 June 1915 and embarked from Fremantle aboard HMAT Anchises on 2 September 1915. He was promoted to a shoeing smith on 21 April 1916. He died of pneumonia in Egypt on 15 August 1916 aged 37 years.
