Description

The original grave marker, covered in flowers, of 1767 Trooper (Tpr) Walter Starr, 7th Australian Light Horse, of Young, NSW. Tpr Starr enlisted on 3 September 1915 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Persic on 18 November 1915. He died of wounds received in action at Kantara on 9 August 1916. He died in Egypt on 14 August 1916 aged 27 years. Tpr Starr’s younger brother 183 Lance Sergeant Edward Starr was killed in action in Belgium on 13 October 1917 aged 23 years.
