recto: Warning; verso: Beware Eye-Pickers...
Several in a series of accident prevention posters issued by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) aimed at workers in the industrial factories and workshops supplying the British War effort. During the war, it was important to have each work-age individual available for work. This is one of a number of posters that caution against reckless behavior. In this instance, careful use of ladders and eye protection are targeted.
recto: This poster features a broken ladder surrounded by an ominous shadowy blue background, below the ladder is the word 'WARNING' written in the shape of a coffin.
verso: This poster features a man dressed in workers close holding out a red handkerchief, accompanied by the text 'BEWARE EYE-PICKERS IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR EYE GO TO YOUR FIRST AID ROOM'
The recto poster was designed Cusden and the verso poster was designed by Mendoza.
