Description
Studio portrait of 478 Private (Pte) George Daniel Whitbourn, B Company, 23rd Battalion, of Collingwood, Vic. Pte Whitbourn enlisted on 20 February 1915 and was killed in action on 29 November 1915 at Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. He was a survivor of the sinking of the troopship Southland which was torpedoed on 2 September 1915.
