Description
Studio portrait of Captain (Capt) Hugh Marcell Conran, C Company, 23rd Battalion, seated. Capt Conran was previously a member of Citizens Military Forces (CMF) and was promoted to lieutenant on 30 April 1913. He enlisted in the AIF on 28 April 1915 embarked aboard HMAT Ulysses on 8 May 1915. He was promoted to captain on 24 February 1916 and returned to Australia on 12 November 1916.
