Description
Studio portrait of 1547 (later 1547A) Private (Pte) Arthur Bertram Arnel of Port Fairy, Vic. Pte Arnel enlisted on 4 March 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Euripides on 10 May 1915. He served as a Lance Sergeant with the 24th Battalion before he was killed in action on 23 August 1916 at Mouquet Farm in France. On 27 October 1916 he was awarded a posthumous Military Medal (MM).
