Description
Studio portrait of Number 5 Trooper (Tpr) George Lawrence Hardy, 2nd South Australian Mounted Rifles (SAMR). Tpr Hardy is wearing an unusual variation of 1871 pattern tan leather waist belt with an 1888 pattern bayonet and tan leather bandolier. Beside him is his slouch hat with a miniature Union Jack fixed to the crown. Tpr Hardy died of enteric fever at Bloemfontein on 4 June 1900.
