Description
Studio portrait of 606 Private (Pte) Camillo Giovanini, 24th Battalion, of Melbourne, Vic (originally of Massa, Italy). Pte Giovanini enlisted on 22 March 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Euripides on 10 May 1915. On 5 August 1916 he was killed in action during the counter attack on Pozieres Heights where the 24th Battalion sustained a large number of casualties. Pte Giovanini is listed on the Roll of Honour as Pte Giovannini Camillo, which was thought to be his correct name.
