Description
Studio portrait of 979 Private (Pte) Sydney Cecil Sherwin, 23rd Battalion, of Corowa, NSW. Pte Sherwin enlisted on 23 March 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Euripides on 10 May 1915. On 4 August 1916 he was killed in action during the counter-attack on Pozieres Heights in France.
