Description
Studio portrait of 2697 Private (Pte) William Ernest Williams, 6th Battalion, of Mickleham via Broadmeadows, Vic (right) and an unidentified friend. Pte Williams enlisted on 26 January 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Anchises on 26 August 1915. On 24 July 1916 he died of wounds sustained during the Battle of Pozieres, France. His brother 729 Lance Corporal Leslie Norman Williams was killed in action on 20 September 1917 in the Ypres area of Belgium.
