Studio portrait of 613 Private (Pte) Joseph Russell Morgan, 9th Battalion, of Brisbane, Qld. Pte Morgan enlisted on the 28 August 1914 and embarked on the SS Omrah with E Company on 24 September of the same year. Pte Morgan, a native of Newtown, Hereford, England, was killed in action on 26 September 1916, aged 29, as a member of the 4th Pioneer Battalion.
